Pet Insurance Riders

A rider is a coverage enhancement that can be added to your plan. Read through the descriptions below to learn more about each rider including what additional coverage they provide and the additional cost. Please see the chart at the bottom of the page to identify which riders may be added or removed from which plans. These riders are multiplied in family plans in order to cover additional pets. If you wish to get a particular rider for just one of your pets you will have to sign them up for their own individual plan.

  • Breeder's Coverage
    • Pays up to $500 annually for emergency C-sections, infection, eclampsia, and mastitis as it relates to breeding for the female.
    • Additional $10 per month per pet
  • Hereditary/Chronic/Congenital – 25%
    • Payments for Hereditary/Chronic/Congenital treatment up to 25% of the plan’s per incident limit.
    • Additional $20 per month per pet
  • Hereditary/Chronic/Congenital – 100%
    • Payments for Hereditary/Chronic/Congenital treatment up to 100% of the plan’s per incident limit.
    • Additional $50 per month per pet
  • Prescription Food
    • Pays 25% of prescription food costs up to $250 per policy year
    • Additional $5 per month per pet
  • Routine 100
    • Covers up to $100 of routine care expenses.
    • Included with Basic comprehensive coverage.
    • Available with Senior coverage.
    • Additional $5 per month per pet
  • Routine 220
    • Covers up to $220 of routine care expenses.
    • Included with Preferred and Preferred PLUS comprehensive coverage.
    • Additional $8.25 per month per pet

Senior: Routine 100, Breeders, Hereditary 25%, Hereditary 100%, Prescription Food
Accident Only: None
Non-routine riders currently not available in Massachusetts. No riders are available with the Accident Only plan.
