PetFirst to Relocate to Historic Quadrangle

Jeffersonville, Ind. (August 16th, 2007) - Renovations are currently underway for PetFirst Healthcare's move to Jeffersonville's historic "Quadrangle."

Quartermaster Station, LLC is redeveloping the former military distribution center, now called Quartermaster Station, and recently finalized lease terms with PetFirst. The pet health insurance company, set to move into the new location in September, will occupy 6,500 square feet of the 177,000-square-foot facility with offices and a call center.

"We're really looking forward to the new location and the growth opportunities it presents for the company," said Brent Hinton, chief executive officer for PetFirst. "This location offers a unique atmosphere with deep historical roots - the location symbolizes the stability and establishment that we want for our company."

The Quartermaster Station facility was opened in 1874 as a military goods distribution center until outsourcing left it largely vacant after the Korean War. Quartermaster Station, LLC and Sun Properties were chosen to renovate the facilities in 2003. To date, 110,000 square feet of the facility is occupied with plans to reach 90 percent capacity by next summer. Other tenants include Ottawa University, Southside Christian Day Care, Vista Care and Puerto Vallarta Restaurant.

Sun Properties/Quartermaster Station partner, Brian Forrest, describes the development as a "lifestyle center," housing primarily retail, medical and office tenants where occupants can drop off their children at day care, go to work and have lunch all in the same location.

The section of the facility PetFirst will occupy has been vacant since the 1950s and Forrest has been selective in filling it, searching for the right tenant for the location that once served as the Quartermaster General's office. Complete with large columns, an exposed-brick arched ceiling, and the original brick for exterior walls, the renovation will maintain many of the facility's original components. Exposed ductwork and 25-foot ceilings through most of the facility give the feel of a large, open space.

"The two-story corner building is unique and special to the facility and it was important for us to find an up-and-coming tenant that would keep most of the original space in check," explained Forrest. "After reviewing PetFirst's business plan and meeting with company founders, Brent Hinton and Lansdon Robbins, it was clear that PetFirst would be a perfect fit for this facility and this historic location."
